This One Is All About Horses, In BarbadosHorse Racing at the Garrison Savannah began back in 1845, the Colonial days! It's not just for fans of racing though, the family can make it a day of entertainment as there's a park for children and everyone can enjoy delicious Bajan dishes and wash it all down with coconut water. Races are run for several months of the year, and the usual venue is the Garrison Savannah. A major event is the Barbados Gold Cup, which attracts horses from North America and the Caribbean. The Gold Cup which is won outright by the winning owner is a much sought after trophy. The Barbados Turf Club has a calendar of events.
