Balls Plantation Balls
Plantation, Christ Church, was at one time a sugar estate of over 300
acres. Evidence of its past in the sugar business, is the millwall
which still exists on the property. Balls
Plantation is home to the Barbados Horticultural Society, created in
1927, it is one of the oldest associations of its kind in the British
Commonwealth and their mission is to further the cause of horticulture
in Barbados. The society is proud of its many awards won at the RHS Chelsea Flower Shows in England, which it began attending in 1988. There are long range plans to develop the area into an Arboretum for the enjoyment of both locals and visitors to Barbados. The Horticultural Society can be reached at (246) 428-5889.
